Question

From the following observations calculate the density and relative density of a brine solution.

Mass of empty bottle=22g

Mass of bottle+water=50g

Mass of bottle+brine solution=54g

Open in App
Solution

Mass of empty bottle=22g

Mass of bottle+water=50g
mass of water =50-22=28
density of water = 1 g/cm^3
volume of water=mass / density = 28 / 1 =28 cm^3

Mass of bottle+brine solution=54g
mass of brine solution = 54-22=32
density of brine solution = 32 /28 = 1.14 g/cm^3

as the unit is g/cm^3 , this value will be same as the relative density.
