From the top of a building AB, 60 m high, the angle of the depression of the top and bottom of vertical lamp post CD are observed to be 30 and 60 respectively. Find
(i) The horizontal distance between AB and CD.
(ii) The height the lamp post.
(iii) The difference between the height of the building and the lamp post.

Consider the given data.

The height of building AB=60 m.

And angle of the depression of the top and bottom of vertical lamp post CD are observed to be 30 and 60, respectively shown in the figure.

In the ADB,

tan60=60x

3=60x

x=603 m

In the ACP,

tan30=60hx

13=60h603

603=60h

h=6020

h=40 m

Therefore,

The distance of between AB and CD is 603 m.

The height of lamp post is 40 m.

The difference between the height of the building and the lamp post =6040=20 m.
