Fossil fuel is an organic molecules-containing material formed naturally in or on the earth's crust by the anaerobic decomposition of dead plants and animals which can be extracted and burned as fuel.
Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources.
Coke:
Coal is one of the fossil fuels which is produced from the decomposition of dead extracts.
Thus the coal obtained from natural resources is processed and treated chemically in various industries.
Coking is one of such industrial processes through which coke is obtained from coal.
The naturally occurring coal is extracted and treated in high-temperature airless coke ovens, thus the volatile substances in the coal along with water are removed as a byproduct.
At the end of the process, a dense, grey, porous and non-volatile fuel with fewer impurities called coke is obtained.
Coke is an amorphous form of carbon that contains mostly water and less than half the carbon content of coal.
Coal tar:
Coal tar is a foul-smelling, dark brown liquid and is formed as the byproduct of the coking process it is a carbon-rich solid fuel.
The removal of volatile substances from coal to form coke and coal gas results in coal tar formation.
Coal tar is a by-product of this process.
The coal tar is less pure than the coke.
Therefore, coke is obtained from the industrial baking or coking process and coal tar is obtained as the byproduct of this process.
