Question

from where do humans get ammonia in their body?

Open in App
Solution

Ammonia is a weak basic compound which is highly toxic that results from the amino acid metabolism that occurs in our body and it is readily converted into less toxic form, urea, by the liver. Ammonia is formed during transamination of amino acids with ketoglutaric acid to form glutamic acid which is further deaminated by an enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase and forms ammonia and ketoglutarate.
