The process of froth floatation depends on the wettability of both ore particles and gangue. It is used for the concentration of sulphide ores.
∙ Crushed ore along with gangue is poured into a mixture of oil and water.
∙ Pressurised air is the passed into the mixture causing agitation and formation of froth which wets the ore.
∙ The ore floats with the froth whereas the gangue particles are wetted by water and settle down.
