An aggregate fruit is a fruit formed from several carpels derived from the same flower.
A fruit developing from a complete inflorescence is called a multiple or a composite fruit. Sorosis is a type of multiple fruit. These fruits are derived from catkin, spike and spadix type of inflorescence.
Hypanthodium is a special type of inflorescence. The penducle becomes fleshy, flattened and forms a hollow cup with a small opening at the top. The male and female flowers are borne on the inner wall of the cup or receptacles with male flowers at the base of receptacle. The flowers are usually sessile.
