Solution

Galvanization:-

  1. Galvanization is the process where Iron(Fe) and Steel are protected from rusting or corrosion with the help of Zinc(Zn).
  2. In this process the iron or the steel is covered with a thin layer of Zinc coating.
  3. When zinc reacts with the moisture in the atmosphere, a protective layer of Zinc oxide(ZnO) is formed.
  4. This layer avoids the corrosion and weathering effects on the iron or steel by preventing the interaction of the surface with the moisture present in the atmosphere.

Therefore, galvanizing is a process in which Iron or Steel is coated with thin layer of Zinc(Zn) to protect them from corrosion.
