Question

Ghee freezes at room temperature but mustard oil does not, even at severe winter. Why?

Open in App
Solution

Melting point of ghee is close to room temperature in summers and is always higher than that of oil.
Temperatures in winters are lower than in summers.
Therefore, ghee is solid in winters and is found in liquid form in summers.
Melting point of oil is lower than room temperature in winters and hence it remains in liquid form both in winters and summers.
