  • Blood is a fluid connective tissue present in humans and other animals.
  • It main function is to carry nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports metabolic waste products away from those same cells.
  • In humans, it is composed of blood cells suspended in blood plasma.
  • Plasma contains 55% of blood fluid which is mostly water and also contains proteins, glucose, mineral ions, hormones, carbon dioxide and blood cell.
  • The blood cells are:-
1) Red blood cells or RBCs or erythrocytes
2) White blood cells or WBCs or leukocytes
3) Platelets or thrombocytes
