The characteristics of kingdom Animalia are as follows:

1. Body of animals exhibits a definite symmetry, form and shape.

2. Animals can move from place to place.

3. Body growth in animals is determined and it occurs proportionately in all body parts.

4. Animals possess the capacity to respond to stimulus.

5. Animal body is also made up of cells, the cells do not have cell wall. The cells do not contain plastids and vacuoles. Centrosomes and lysosomes are present.

6. Animal cells cannot synthesize some necessary amino acids, vitamins and co-enzymes on their own, they are to be obtained from external sources.

7. Reserve food is in the form of glycogen.
