Solution

Origin of new species:

  1. According to Darwin, new variations appear in every generation and get inherited by the new generation.
  2. Gradually, the useful variations get accumulated after several generations.
  3. As a result, the offsprings are distinctly different from their ancestors. This results in the formation of new species.
  4. Gradual modification of the existing species leading to the formation of new species is known as speciation.
  5. The formation of new species is the backbone of evolution and is marked by the change in the genetic constitution of the population.
