Stages in Human Evolution

The following are the stages of human evolution:

Ramapithecus

  1. About 15 million years ago, hairy-bodied gorillas and chimpanzees existed called sub man.
  2. The hominid was called Homo habilis.
  3. These humans were hunters and they were about 4 feet in height but could not walk upright.
  4. They were known as the first humans.

Homo erectus

  1. After 1.5 million years ago, a species called Homo erectus evolved.
  2. They were flesh-eaters.
  3. They used tools for hunting and fire.
  4. They also lived in caves

Homo sapiens Neanderthal

  1. The Neanderthal man lived in Central and East Asia about I million years ago.
  2. They invented small axes, they are big hunters.

Archaic Homo sapiens

Archaic Homo sapiens are believed to have evolved in South Africa and moved across continents.

Modern Homo sapiens

  1. They evolved between 75,000-10,000 years.
  2. The development of pre-historic caves happened about 18,000 years ago and agriculture came 10,000 years back.
  3. This was the beginning of human settlement in history
