Solution

Answer:

A historian is a person who analysis and writes about the past and is considered an expert on it. Historians are connected with the continuous, methodical interpretation and observation of historical data as they relate to the humankind. Also, with the analysis of all history in the period.

The main objectives of the historian

  • The historian has to handle sources with reasonable reservations
  • The historian should not ignore counter-evidence without critical consideration;
  • The historian has to state explicitly any speculation
  • The historian must not misinterpret or mistranslate documents by disregarding portions of the documentation;
  • The historian must evaluate the credibility of all accounts and not just those that contradict his preferred perspective;
  • The historian should take into consideration the intentions of the historical actors.

Sources the historians use for the analysis of a specific period of history

For the study of a particular period, historians use the sources such as architectures, coins, inscriptions and textual documents. The two types of source are primary sources and secondary sources.

Primary sources

Primary sources include first-hand evidence facts and raw data, and examples involve transcripts from interviews, statistical data, and artworks. A primary source lets you have direct access to your research topic.

Secondary sources

Secondary sources provide several researchers with second-hand information and analysis. Examples include articles from the journals, reviews, and books from academics. The primary sources are identified, interpreted or synthesized by a secondary source.
