Elements are the simplest form of matter that cannot be further broken down or decomposed into a simpler form by any chemical method.

They are the simplest pure substances.

They have fixed and uniform composition.

They have definite properties.

Examples: Gold (Au) , Silver(Ag) etc.

A compound is a pure substance formed by the chemical combination of two or more two elements in a fixed proportion by mass.

Their composition is definite, constant, and uniformly throughout.

They have definite and fixed properties

Examples: Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) , Potassium chloride (KCl) etc

A mixture is a form of matter which consists of two or more different pure substances in any ratio. They are impure substances.

Their composition is variable.

They have no fixed properties.

Example: Sand , salt water etc.
