Land	Soil
Land is the lithospheric part of earth comprising of solid rock material.	Soil is the surface covering of land.
Water is not included in the land area.	Different type of soils is found on the ocean or river beds.
May or may not support life.	It supports life.

It is important to conserve land resources because the land is the place of habitation for living beings. Men perform many activities on land including agriculture. It is the support system of flora and fauna and transportation.
The soil along with land also has to be conserved because it contains essential nutrients which are required for crop production. It is the foundation of plants and animals. It even purifies and filters the water.
