Solution
Metals are known to be good conductors of electricity which means that metals allow electricity to pass through them easily.
Metals contain free electrons. When electricity is passed through them the electrons attain mobility.
The metals like Mercury (Hg) and Iron (Fe) offer comparatively greater resistance to the flow of current, so they have lower electrical conductivity.
Silver (Ag) is the best conductor of electricity in the metal because it offers little resistance to the flow of electric current, so they have high electrical conductivity.
Hence, we conclude that metal conducts electricity because of the presence of free electrons.
