Solids cannot be compressed easily.

  • Intermolecular space- It is the space present between particles of matter.
  • The order of intermolecular space in states of matter isGas>Liquid>Solid.
  • It is evident that intermolecular space is the least in solids.

Since, the space is so less in solids they cannot be compressed easily, even if they are compressed it happens to a very less extent.
