Solution

Dissolving - The process in which a solid dissolve in liquid to form a homogeneous mixture is called dissolving.

  • Example - Dissolving of sugar or salt in water.
  • It is a physical change.
  • No new substance is formed.
  • When a solid is dissolved in a liquid then the solid breaks up into individual molecules which occupy the empty intermolecular space of the liquid molecules.
  • It is a reversible change.

Hence, dissolving is a physical change.
