Question

Give a relation between frequency and time period??

Open in App
Solution

Refer the figure.
There is a ball which is hanging from a string ,now if we pull the ball aside and released it will oscillate.
When we say one complete oscillation?
when ball moves from O to A and again A to O then O to B then again Bto O then there is a complete oscillation .
Now time taken to complete one oscillation is called time period=T say
and number of oscillation in 1 second is called frequency.
so obviously
by unit rule
in T sec 1 oscillation completes.
so in 1 sec there will be 1/T oscillation
and by definition no. of oscillation in 1 sec=f=1/T
so T=1/f.
