  1. A definite amount of water bound to salt is known as the water of crystallization.
  2. The water of crystallization is present when a compound is in its solid form. It also helps the compound to impart color.
  3. e.g. CuSO4.5H2O here 5H2O water molecule is not in free form but in crystalline form and is known as the water of crystallization.
  4. These 5 moles of crystalline water give copper sulfate (CuSO4 ) blue color.
