Solution

Shrinking of grapes:

  1. The strong sugar solution act as a hypertonic solution with a high solute concentration.
  2. When grapes are placed in the strong sugar solution then, the concentration difference between the surrounding solution and grapes leads to the outward movement of molecules.
  3. The outward movement of water molecules occurs due to exosmosis.
  4. It leads to the shrinkage of grapes.
