Solution: The Champaran campaign of 1917 and the Kheda or Kaira movement of 1918 were some of the early interventions made by Gandhi against the British. He led the peasants in their struggle against unfair terms and excessive taxes that were imposed by the British. Gandhi also led the Ahmedabad textile workers' agitation in 1918. He also came in contact with several important leaders like Rajendra Prasad and Vallabh Bhai Patel.Gandhi himself emerged as a popular leader.
