Solution
Despite a largely unity in the general pattern, there are discernible regional differences in climatic conditions within the country.
In summer, the mercury sporadically touches 50°C in some parts of the Rajasthan desert, whereas it touches around 20°C in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
In winters, temperature at Drass in Jammu and Kashmir could be touching minus 45°C whereas Thiruvananthapuram may have a temperature of 20°C.
There are variations in the form, types of precipitation, amount, and the seasonal distribution.
While it mostly snows in the upper parts of Himalayas, the rest of the country receives rainfall.
The annual precipitation ranges from over 400 cm in Meghalaya to less than 10 cm in Ladakh and western Rajasthan.
Major part of the country receive rainfall from June to September. However, some parts like the Tamil Nadu coast get most of its rain during October and November.
