Solution

Sublimation:-

  1. The process where a solid is converted directly into a gas is called sublimation.
  2. For example, ammonium chloride NH4Cl is a sublimate and is separated from potassium chloride KCl by the help of sublimation.
  3. The mixture of ammonium chloride NH4Cl and potassium chloride KCl is heated.
  4. The ammonium chloride gets converted from sublimate to vapour directly, and hence the potassium chloride solution is left behind in the dish.

Therefore, a mixture of ammonium chloride NH4Cl and potassium chloride KCl is separated with the help of the sublimation process.
