Give an example for the following axioms from your experience:

(a) If equals are added to equals, the wholes are equal.

(b) The whole is greater than the part.

(a) Consider two pencil boxes A and B, each having 7 pencils. If we add 3 more pencils to each pencil box, then the number of pencils in each box would again be equal i.e., there will be 10 pencils in each box.

Thus, if equals are added to equals, the wholes are equal.

(b) Consider a complete day. A day comprises of Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night. Now, the duration of Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Night is lesser than the duration of the whole day.

Thus, the whole is greater than the part.
