Diatomic molecule:-

  1. Molecules that have atomicity of 2 are called diatomic molecules
  2. Example of a diatomic molecule is Nitrogen.
  3. Nitrogen gas with formula N2exists as a diatomic molecule.
  4. It can form -multiple bonds.
  5. Also both the nitrogens are bonded with a triple bond, which is very strong and cannot be broken easily.
  6. This is also a reason why Nitrogen molecule does not react easily.

Therefore, Nitrogen forms a diatomic molecule(N2).
