Open in App
Solution

  1. There are some gases which dissolve in water to a very higher extent, so we consider them as water soluble.
  2. Ammonia (NH3) is an example of a gas that is highly soluble in water.
  3. Ammonia is highly soluble in water because there is a Hydrogen bonding possible between Ammonia and water molecules.
  4. The high solubility of Ammonia is due to the presence of lone pairs at the Nitrogen and is attracted to Hydrogen in water molecule forming Hydrogen bonds.
  5. The presence of Hydrogen bonding between two molecules makes the molecule polar.
