Monoecious plant:
- Monoecious plants are plants that carry both female and male reproductive organs in the same individual.
- They possess bisexual flowers.
- They are known to undergo self-pollination.
Example of monoecious plant:
- An example of a monoecious plant is corn.
- It has two kinds of flowers that develop from different parts of the plant.
- The male form blooms at the top of the plant and is known as a tassel. These are known to have stamens.
- The female flowers are produced at the side of the plant and originate from the leaf node. These are known to have pistils.
- The pollens originated within the male flower and pollinate the female flowers.
