  1. A mechanism for the coupled transportation of two different molecules or ions passing through a membrane in opposite directions is known as antiport.
  2. It is a type of active transport.
  3. One of the two substances which participate in the antiport mechanism flows from high concentration to low concentration.

Example of an antiport:
