Give an example of each of a solid-solid mixture, solid-liquid mixture, and liquid-liquid mixture.
Mixture: In chemistry, when two or more substances mix with each other without participating in a chemical change, the resulting substance is called a mixture.
(i) Solid-solid mixture: All alloys are solid mixtures of metals. Brass is a solid mixture of approximately 30% zinc and 70% copper. In this solid mixture, copper is the larger component, and zinc is the smaller component. Similarly, bell metal is a solid mixture of 80% copper and 20% tin.
(ii) Solid-liquid mixture: Sugar solution is an example, in which sugar is the solute and water is the solvent.
(iii) liquid-liquid mixture: In the case of an alcoholic drink, ethyl alcohol is the solute and water is the solvent.
