Brittle nature of metals:-

  1. This is a property of a material that breaks when stress is applied, but it has a small tendency to bend before breaking.
  2. These types of materials have low deformation ability, low capacity of withstanding impact and vibration, high compressive strength, and low tensile strength.
  3. An example of such material which is brittle is pig iron or cast iron.

Therefore, cast iron is an example of metal which is brittle.
