Solution

Definition of Mixture

Mixtures are made up of two or more substances combined together in any proportion. During the formation of a mixture two substances do not react chemically whereas, melting point boiling point of the mixture depends upon the characteristic of the constituents of the mixture. therefore a mixture always retains its physical and chemical properties. If we take the example of salt and water, when salt dissolves in water it does not react with water to alter its chemical properties.

Example

If we take the example of air. Air is a mixture of different gases, air shows the property of different gases, like, air shows the property of combustion due to the presence of oxygen. The melting point and the boiling point of the mixture depends upon the characteristic of the constituents of the mixture. air can be separated into its components by the method of fractional distillation. In this way, we can say a mixture always retains its physical and chemical properties.
