3. Law 2: The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction for a pair of media is constant.
4. Thus if the angle of incidence is i and the angle of refraction is r,
5. This constant is called the refractive index of the medium.
6. The refractive index of a medium is denoted by $\mu$ (mu).

So, $\mu =\frac{\sin i}{\sin r}$

This relationship is called Snell's law.
