Dear student
Five common applications of impulse are
1. ball bouncing off the floor : When the ball is just to touch the floor , the velocity is towards the ground but in just a small time interval the ball has reversed velocity the ground applied impact here so that the ball can have the velocity reversed .
2. bullet ricocheting off tarmac : As we fire in just a small interval of time the bullet acquires a very high speed it shows that the gun applied a huge impact on bullet .
3. kicking a football : Similarly , the football gets the high speed when kicked hardly has change in momentum i.e. impact .
4. catching or stopping a cricket ball :the cricket ball is in motion and suddenly stopped in an small time interval , so , the hand impacts on the ball to change its momentum .
5. striking a carom piece : carom pieces have zero momentum , and when stroke with the striker , it gains speed abruptly . so the striker impacts the pieces to change their momentum
