Defining mixtures

  1. The substance having two or more different types of elements or compounds that combine physically and not chemically are called mixtures.
  2. The various substances present in the mixture are known as the constituents or components of the mixture.

Examples of mixtures:

  1. Brine is a mixture of common salt in water. Thus, common salt is one of the components of the brine solution or mixture.
  2. Air (a mixture of gases like OxygenO, NitrogenN, ArgonAr, Carbon dioxide CO2sugar solution, salt solution, milk, seawater, ink, petrol, coal, soil, starch solution, blood, wood, butter, cheese, smoke, fog, and mist, dyes, etc.
