Answer- Deforestation can be defined as the large-scale destruction of forest cover or removal of trees, for the facilitation of human activities. It is a serious environmental concern since it can result in the loss of biodiversity, damage to natural habitats, soil erosion etc.
Four factors which are responsible for the destruction of forests are:
Rapid industrialization.
Increasing urbanization.
Increased demand for wood for furniture and household materials.
Increasing land requirements for agriculture.
