  5. The body is either sleek or spindly in form.

  8. Pisces are divided into three groups: Placodermi (Aphstohyoids), Chondrichthyes, and Osteichthyes.
  1. Placodermi: Placoderm, any member of an ancient group of primitive jawed fishes known exclusively through fossil remnants (Placodermi). Example: Dunkleosteus.
  2. Chondrichthyes: Chondrichthyes is a fish class that comprises those having a cartilaginous skeleton. Examples: Sharks, skates, rays, and chimaeras.
  3. Osteichthyes: Osteichthyes is a fish class that comprises those having a bony skeleton. Examples: Sunfish, bass, catfish, trout, and pike.
