Filtration is the technique of separating suspended solid matter from a liquid by forcing it to pass through the pores of a filter.

This technique can be used to separate a solid from a solid-liquid mixture.

Examples of the filtration process

1. Filtration can be used to separate a Barium sulfate or Silver chloride precipitate from water.
2. Filtration can be used to separate used tea leaves from produced tea.
3. Filtration can be used to separate a mixture of chalk and water.
4. Filtration can be used to separate a mixture of sawdust and water, charcoal and water, and Zinc dust and water.
