Defining evaporation

  1. Evaporation is the process of extracting a non-volatile soluble solid from its solution by allowing the liquid component to evaporate.
  2. In this method, a non-volatile soluble solid can be separated from its liquid component.

Example

  1. Sugar can be separated from the sugar solution.
  2. The colored component or ‘dye’ from black or blue ink can be separated from its liquid mixture.
  3. It is possible to recover Sulfur dissolved in Carbon disulphideCS2.
  4. Substances like Copper Sulphate CuSO4, Potassium nitrate KNO3 can be separated from their aqueous solution.
