Solution

Endosmosis:

Endosmosis is the movement of water from a high-concentration area to a low-concentration one through a semipermeable membrane when the cell is placed in a hypotonic medium. It is also known as the inward movement of solvent molecules.

Examples of endosmosis:

  1. When raisins are put in regular water, they swell.
  2. The root's ability to transport water from the soil into the xylem vessels.

Exosmosis:

Exosmosis is the movement of water from a high-concentration area to a low-concentration one through a semipermeable membrane when the cell is placed in a hypertonic medium. It is also known as the outward movement of solvent molecules.

Examples of Exosmosis:

  1. Capillary water absorption by the root from the soil.
  2. When raisins are immersed in a salted solution, they shrivel or shrink.
