Solution

Growth movements in plants

  1. Plants show growth movements in response to external stimuli like light, gravity, water, chemicals, etc. This can either be towards the stimulus or away from the stimulus.
  2. A directional growth movement in response to touch or friction is called thigmotropism.
  3. Thigmotropism is seen in plants like tendrils of grapevines which have a weak stem. These stems are unable to stay upright and require an object to grow.
