Solution
Garbage
Garbage comprises primarily bio-degradable and non-biodegradable items.
Fruit and vegetable peels and dead and decaying organic matter are a few examples of bio-degradable waste.
When left for a long time in the soil, they decay and mix with it thereby increasing the nutrient content.
Nonbiodegradable waste includes plastics, metal scraps, etc. which do not disintegrate when mixed with soil.
If garbage is burned, it releases carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and other gases.
When released into the atmosphere, this gas affects the quality of the air thereby causing air pollution.
The environment and the living organisms are affected. When this smoke mixes with fog result in the formation of smog. This eventually affects living organisms.
