Question

Give brief description of Mendeleev 's periodic table.

Open in App
Solution

  1. Mendeleev's Periodic Table depicts the relationship throughout the network, in vertical columns and horizontal rows.
  2. Based on the properties of the other elements in the same group, Mendeleev left certain gaps in his periodic table for some of the then undiscovered elements. Eka boron, Eka aluminum, and Eka silicon were his names for the missing elements.
  3. These elements were later found and given the names scandium, gallium, and germanium.
  4. Mendeleev corrected some elements' atomic weights that had been questioned. The atomic weight of indium, for example, was calculated on the premise that indium oxide had the formulaInO. Indium, which has metallic properties, was classified as a non-metal because of its atomic weight.
  5. Indium oxide's formula was changed InOtoIn2O3 by Mendeleev.
  6. The atomic weight of indium is 113 based on this updated formula. He also made adjustments to the atomic weights of beryllium and uranium.
