Postulates of Dalton's Atomic theory are as follows-

  1. John Dalton presented his theory of atoms in 1808.
  2. Atoms are indivisible particles that make up all matter, it cannot be divided further.
  3. Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed.
  4. According to Dalton, atoms of the same elements have exactly the same mass but we know the same elements can have slightly different masses.
  5. According to Dalton, atoms of different elements have different masses but we know different elements can also have the same mass.
  6. Atoms from the same element can combine in a variety of ways to generate two or more compounds.
  7. The atom is the smallest unit of matter capable of participating in chemical reactions.
