Air pollution- It is the process of the addition of undesirable substances to air that degrades the quality of air and causes harm to the biotic(living) and the abiotic(non-living) component of the ecosystem.
There are multiple known effects of air pollution, some are listed below.
Acid rain- Oxides of Nitrogen and sulphur when reacted with water molecule makes the raindrops acidic.
This can cause damage to monuments and also imbalance aquatic life.
Ozone layer depletion- The ozone layer in the stratosphere of the atmosphere is getting depleted due to excess chlorofluorocarbon in the air.
Which is allowing the entry of harmful UV rays which were blocked by the ozone layer.
This entry of UV rays can cause skin cancer.
Some other effects of air pollution-
Formation of smog- smog is when the fog gets mixed with smoke, which causes low visibility and respiratory ailments.
Lead particles released from vehicles can cause severe brain damage.
Carbon monoxide formed in vehicles due to incomplete combustion of carbon can cause dizziness, vomiting, and even death when inhaled in a large amount.
