  1. Bases are substances that form hydroxide ions(HO-) when dissolved in water.
  2. Most of the bases react with acids and form salts.
  3. Bases also act as an antacid, as they can neutralize the effect of acid.
  4. Basic substances have a pH value of more than 7.
  5. Some examples of basic substances are: sodium hydroxide(NaOH), ammonium hydroxide(NH4OH), calcium hydroxideCa(OH)2, ammonia(NH3)

Therefore, examples of bases are sodium hydroxide(NaOH), ammonia(NH3) and calcium hydroxideCa(OH)2.
