Question

Give examples of polynomials p(x),g(x),q(x) and r(x), which satisfy the division algorithm and degr(x)=0

Open in App
Solution

Find the required polynomials:

Division algorithm is Dividend=Divisor×Quotient+Remainder

i.e., p(x)=g(x)×q(x)+r(x), where r(x)=0 or degr(x)<deggx

Let p(x)=5x2+10x+20,g(x)=x2+2x+4

Now, q(x)=p(x)g(x)

q(x)=5

As, p(x)=g(x)×q(x)

So,r(x)=0

Hence, the required polynomials are p(x)=5x2+10x+20,g(x)=x2+2x+4, q(x)=5 and r(x)=0.
