Solution

Leaf tendrils

  1. In many weak-stemmed plants, the whole leaf or a part of leaf gets modified into thin, thread like coiled structure called leaf tendril.
  2. The tendrils provide suitable support in climbing of the weak stems.
  3. They stretch out and coil around any suitable support to help the plant in climbing.

For example:

  1. In Lathyrus aphaca (wild pea), whole leaf is changed to tendril.
  2. In Pisum sativum (garden pea), upper leaflets are changed to tendril.
