The seminal vesicles are two small glands that store and produce the majority of the fluid that makes up semen. During ejaculation, the fluid from the seminal vesicles is expelled into the ejaculatory duct where it can then move on to mix with sperm and other reproductive fluids. Seminal vesicular secretion is important for semen coagulation, sperm motility, and stability of sperm chromatin and suppression of the immune activity in the female reproductive tract.
The prostate gland is a male reproductive organ whose main function is to secrete prostate fluid, one of the components of semen. During ejaculation, millions of sperm move from the testes through tubes called the vas deferens into the area of the prostate.
