The first battle of Tarain was fought in the year 1191 AD between the Ghurid dynasty that is led by Muhammad Ghor and the Chauhan or Chahamana Rajput dynasty led by Prithviraj Chauhan. The Rajput king Prithviraj has decisively won against the forces of Muhammad Ghor and they have successfully defeated the Ghurid dynasty. The infantry, cavalry and elephant force of Prithviraj was more in number compared to the forces led by Muhammad Ghor and hence the victory sided with Prithviraj Chauhan in the first battle of Tarain.
